Samoa is one of the first 4 countries in the region that benefited from this Population Geographic Information System (GIS) project funded by the United Kingdom Department for International Development (DFID). The GIS is a customized application developed by the SPC Demography Programme aimed at providing statisticians, economic and social policy analysts, sectoral specialists and planners a tool which they can use to achieve successful outcomes in their respective area of work.
What is presented here are few maps showing selected indicators based on our latest population census - 2001. The Department will expand this type of outputs using thematic maps as information from other sources (HIES, Agriculture Census, Agriculture Surveys) become available and incorporated into the system.
