World Statistics Day 2025 Celebrated

Celebrating World Statistics Day 2025 – A Resounding Success!

The Samoa Bureau of Statistics (SBS) proudly hosted a successful celebration of World Statistics Day 2025, bringing together government representatives, development partners, schools, and the wider community to honour the power and importance of statistics in shaping Samoa’s future.

This year’s theme, “Driving Change with Quality Statistics and Data for Everyone”, guided a vibrant proram that showcased the impact of data in national planning, policy and development.

The event featured a keynote address from the Honourable Minister, who highlighted the government’s continued commitment to strengthening Samoa’s statistical capacity and promoting data-driven decision-making. Remarks from the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office and the Australian High Commission’s Representative underscored the value of collaboration and shared effort in advancing Samoa’s data ecosystem.

Another highlight was the screening of a special video presentation – “Samoa’s Journey Through Statistics and the Way Forward” – which captured the nation’s progress in harnessing data for development and painted a compelling vision for the future of statistics in Samoa.

The celebration also saw strong engagement from schools, whose students took part in interactive sessions presentations, and quizzes that demonstrated their growing understanding of how statistics inform everyday life. Their energy and curiosity added a special spirit of learning and innovation to the event.

Throughout the day, SBS staff and partners reaffirmed their shared commitment to producing and promoting quality, reliable, and accessible data for all. The celebration stood as a reminder of how far Samoa has come – and the exciting journey that lies ahead – in strengthening a culture of data-driven progress and inclusive development.

Together, we continue to drive change with quality statistics and data for everyone.
